Venkat is responsible for helping to define, set and manage the risk profile of Barclays. He heads the risk management organization across the group, has oversight responsibility for Compliance, and is a member of the Group Executive Committee. Venkat has 25 years of financial market and risk management expertise. He previously worked at JP Morgan Chase, from 1994, holding senior roles in Risk, Investment Banking and Asset Management.

Venkat is the executive sponsor for Embrace, the global multi-cultural network at Barclays.

Venkat holds S.B., S.M. and Ph.D degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
