“At just two and half years old my son Nicholas was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the type of cancer most common in children. Although Nicholas has thankfully been blessed with a great prognosis, he still has a long road of treatment ahead of him; Nicholas started treatment on January 1st, 2018 and it will continue until May 2021. Since Nicholas’ initial diagnosis he has endured multiple blood transfusions, platelets transfusions, surgery to implant his medical port, countless spinal taps, routine chemotherapy, oral medication (including steroids), and has sadly endured the harsh side effects that go along with them. Against all those odds, our little super hero never fails to have a smile on his face, or to put one on the face of anyone he comes in contact with. The strength he shows at the tender age of 3 is incredible and I feel so lucky to be his mother. Nicholas’ childhood life changed in an instant, but he is not alone; my husband and I have remained positive and know we will win this battle as a family!”
