Abigail “Abby” was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 11. Abby noticed two lumps the size of peas behind her ear, thought they were just mosquito bites and didn’t tell her parents. Shortly after discovering that the lumps didn’t go away and starting to feel sick, Abby then decided that it was time to tell her parents. They took her to the family’s pediatrician for testing. A day later, they were driving to Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus with the worst news parents can hear about their child. After two and a half years of chemo, Abby finally saw the finish line and was able to ring the bell in December 2018. In 2021, Abby started to feel bad again and thought she had relapsed. Her parents immediately made an appointment to get another spinal tap and bloodwork done. However thankfully, it wasn’t the case this time because all of her tests came back negative. Abby is currently a healthy and happy 11th Grader.
