Alexander is a curious, rambunctious, loving, smart and funny 3 1/2 year old bundle of energy who loves rockets, construction vehicles and the color, blue!
Our SuperHero’s journey through cancer began with an unexplained fever that would just not go away and then a limp, one that would shift from leg to leg and often cause him to stumble. As a young toddler, unable to articulate the source of the pain and its intensity, Alex saw many doctors for many weeks with no improvement and no diagnosis until finally he was sent for a blood test. That devastating, life altering phone call from his pediatrician on October 6, 2016 will be seared into memory forever.
Alex was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at just 22 months and immediately began a 3 1/2 year protocol with his incredible Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center team led by Dr. Ben Mizukawa.
His lengthy treatment schedule includes nightly chemo and medications, monthly port chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, steroids, physical therapy and much more. It seems like a lot ... and it is. But Alex is a tough, determined warrior who has met every challenge along his hero’s journey with courage, strength and an amazing smile that fills our hearts and every cherished moment with joy.
Alex is our light, our inspiration, our unending love!
