In 2019 April felt a lump on the back of her neck but didn't think much of it. Two days later, she developed a tightness in her chest and a cough that would not stop. Over the course of the next few days she experienced a fever, night sweats and itchy skin and bruising more than normal. After extensive blood work, X-rays, CT scans, biopsies, & a PET scan, she was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage ll, Type B on Sept. 27, 2020
April’s life was flipped upside-down and right back up again. She had to change a lot of what she did because of her extremely low immune system. At times, she couldn’t even be around her kids and grandchildren. In this time, she also realized that she is tougher than she thought. From family, church family and friends, LLS & others she has found more support than she could have ever imagined. Emotionally, spiritually, and financially. She is humbled by it all.
April is now officially in remission and loving life with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren!
