Russell

Athens, GA

  • Print
Russell Vandiver was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on September 21, 2014, at age 22. He went through six months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. While Russell didn’t find a “match” for his transplant, he did find two cord blood units from Germany, and on May 21, 2015 he received the transplant which saved his life. After the transplant, Russell spent 45 days in the hospital at Emory, waiting for his blood counts to return to normal levels. Today, Russell is two years post-transplant and in good health. He is a senior at the University of Georgia and in his free time enjoys playing guitar, golfing and fishing.
