Meet Maeryn, our 2017 Cincinnati Light The Night Honored Hero! Maeryn was diagnosed with Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 16 of last year, just prior to her 10th birthday. She is currently in the delayed intensification phase of her treatment and has been handling her treatment like a rock star! Maeryn attends the 5th grade at Mason Intermediate School, however, due to being diagnosed right at the beginning of the school year, she has had to miss the majority of her school year due to being in the hospital, receiving chemotherapy, and having a lowered immune system. Maeryn loves doing all things creative, whether it's drawing, painting, cooking, or doing photography. She also loves to run track and participate in cheerleading. She has 2 older siblings; Will, age 14, and Maddie, age 12, who are always cheering her on!  Maeryn is happiest when she is making others smile, especially through giving back.  When she found out she was going to lose all of her hair due to her chemotherapy, she decided to donate her hair.  She told her mom, "Well Mom, I've had a lot of good times with this hair.  Now it's time for someone else to do that, too".  Way to go, Maeryn!
