Hi I’m Kay! I’m 10 years old and in the 4th grade. I know you can’t tell by looking at me but just 8 months ago I was in treatment for cancer. I’m just like any 10 year old but I’ve had to fight for my life. When I was 7 I was diagnosed with Pre B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or "ALL" on February 12th 2014 I began my journey of treatment - I was only in 2nd grade at time. Because I had Leukemia I could really get sick if I was around other people. So I couldn’t go back to school that year. I couldn’t really be a kid for the 2 and a half years while I was getting Chemo. I had some hard times and spent a lot of time in treatment. During my treatment I spent many days and sometimes a month at a time in the hospital. There, instead of learning Math and Reading I had to learn about big names of Medicines and other stuff a kid shouldn’t have to know. It was a lot but I’m thankful for programs like Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. LLS helps with research so that the doctors can make the best chemos. Years ago kids with cancer didn’t always make it but - I DID!!!!!!
