When I got cancer I remember thinking the world was ending and I had no hope. As a 3rd year college student I didn’t know what else to think. I was afraid and although surrounded by loved ones felt soalone. I remember thinking I had no future and I would die. This lack of hope shattered me, I always grew up in a church and believed in God but could not understand why He would let this happen to me.One night I remember feeling this overwhelming sense of calm that everything would be ok. God wouldget me through, it would not be easy but I truly believed it. With the help of my family, friend and even LLS I was able to get through several rounds of grueling chemo. LLS gave me a donation check a few weeks after I was diagnosed, and although the money would not change my health I was so appreciative of the gesture. LLS didn’t know who I was but cared enough to help my family and I in our time of need. Along with educational information and support groups LLS made a lasting impact on me. I was declaredin remission and completed treatment in May 2013, and could not have done it without those around me. I really have a new appreciation for each day and lease on life. As a college student and young man you feel invincible and nothing can harm you. I learned the hard way that this is not so. I want to be able to share my story and give hope to all those going through the same struggles. If what I went through can inspire and give hope to 1 person then it was all worth it.
